The 2009 CNY Family Sports Centre Soccer Camps are coming soon! This year's camp dates are June 29th-July 2nd, July 13th-16th, and August 3rd-6th.

Each camp will offer a camp t-shirt, plus 12 hours of training, rain or shine.

New Summer Program! Just like the indoor session the CNYFSC is forming teams for their Summer Outdoor Youth Soccer League. Individual Players ages U6-U14 Boys & Girls looking to play should contact Jeff or the CNYFSC staff at 315-638-8866 to register. Games will be played at the CNY Family Sports Centre in Syracuse every Sunday beginning June 14th. Skills training will be held every Monday night from 6:30-7:30pm. Each player will play 8 games ending August 9th. The staff is also looking for parent volunteers to help with the team!

New Summer Program at the CNYFSC! The CNYFSC will run a summer outdoor youth soccer league beginning Sunday June 14th for ages U6-U14 boys & girls. All games will be held on Sundays at the CNY Family Sports Centre in Syracuse on our beautiful outdoor fields! The league will consist of 8 games and a playoff week. We will be running a 4 day Lacrosse Camp this summer from August 10th - August 13th, 2009, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. The camp is being run by our talented coaching staff including, Greg Scott, Steve Gryzlo, Mike MacDonald, and Nick Gatto. Field player and goalie camps are both available to sign up. The next sessionwill be starting on Monday June 1st. The Spring session will be held every Monday from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.

The Micro-Soccer session is geared towards the beginner player ages 3-7. The players will be trained in the basic fundamentals of the sport: dribbling, passing, receiving, and playing small sided games. Participants will be introduced to the basics of soccer in a positive, fun, learning environment.

We will be having another boys Mini Lax Clinic beginning Wednesday May 6th - Wednesday June 10th, 2009. The clinic is open to individuals in 1- 8th grade. The clinic will feature coaches from the area such as Mike McLaughlin, Ryan Heath, Andrew Carducci, & Mike Malone. Just a reminder to all teams for all indoor leagues, that Cleats, Studs, or Molded shoes are not allowed. As of March 13, 2009, any team having a player that is wearing cleats will forfeit its game. The CNY Family Sports Centre has always had a "no cleat" policy.

Olympic Gold Medalist and leading scorer of the US Women’s National Soccer Team, Abby Wambach, held a free soccer clinic at the CNY Family Sports Centre. Over 350 local youth soccer players participated in the event sponsored by MVP Health Care. She joined other volunteer coaches including many coaches on staff at the CNY Family Sports Centre where they learned basic skills and the value of teamwork through drills and demonstrations.

“She’s a forward for the U.S. National Women’s Soccer Team, a Gold Medalist, World Cup Champion and former U.S. Player of the Year, the list goes on. She has scored 99 goals in 125 appearances for the US National Team. It was great for the young players in our community to be able come out and meet Abby. She is a superstar and a real positive role model for many of our young soccer players.” said Pete Ramin, director of operations at The CNY Family Sports Centre.

Wambach grew up in Rochester and says she wants to prove that dreams can be achieved. She also says that aside from soccer, she wants kids to learn the importance of staying healthy and being active.

Former New York Yankee and 2008 Baseball Hall of Famer, Goose Gossage put on a pitching demonstration during the New York Association of Convenience Stores welcome party for their annual Trade Show & Convention. The event which hosted about 350 people was a great success. Check out Event Coordinator Jon Ramin with the Goose himself!
