The CNYFSC Remote Learning Assistance and Sports Program has been receiving great feedback and reviews. The program will continue throughout the winter as school plans continue to with their remote and hybrid models.
NEW PLAN OPTION:
The purchase of this plan is for ten (10) remote learning days to be used at your convenience. The days of attendance will need to be submitted to our program director with a 48 hour notice.
Cost: $425
Registration requires a $100 deposit. The full payment will be required prior to the students 5th day of attendance or after one month of time has elapsed after initial registration.

DAYS OF THE WEEKSeptember 9th - January 29th
Dropoff 8AM-9AM Early drop off and pickup available upon request. If the school district is closed for Holidays/snow-days we will be closed.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONSFor the safety of the students and staff we will be taking safety very seriously. We will be following all NYS guidelines. Socially distanced desks, face masks when walking around the building. Masks can be taken off at desks. Sanitizing stations are located throughout the building. All sports/activities will only be ones approved by New York State. Read more details about our Covid-19 Precautions. SPORTS & LEISUREEach day will consist of roughly 90 minutes of sports and leisure/creative activities. Sports and activities may include - soccer/ kickball/movies/art projects among other New York State approved activities. Professional soccer player Ben Ramin will be directing sports activities. |
STRUCTURED LEARNINGEach student will bring their school issued Chromebook. Each day will consist of roughly 2.5 hours of structured learning. Our Teachers & Staff will be there to help and teach all subjects. Students desks will be socially distanced on our indoor fields. THE TEACHERSWith 30+ years of experience, educator William Coughlin will be directing the program. Several other retired teachers will be participating as staff as well as several recent college graduates. OUR EDUCATORS

Pricing is based on less than $45 per day. Registration is available only on a per semester basis, no daily or weekly registrations will be accepted.

Our staff
Bill CoughlinBill is a retired HS teacher with over 35 years’ experience in districts from Brooklyn to Tully to Mexico, NY. He helped revise the NYS Regents exam and, using the common core, has helped develop curriculum maps for districts in NY, OK, AZ and ME. In addition, Bill is a professional actor who established and ran a summer camp for theatre kids in Cortland for 25 years. He is excited to be “back in the classroom again” doing what he loves most- helping students. Jamie Battles
Mrs. Battles has taught Math at Mexico High School for the last 34 years. During my time as a teacher I have tutored students, worked as a support teacher in the learning lab and during our after school program. I truly love to work with students at any level and love to see them have fun while learning. I am familiar with the computer and various programs to help students be successful. |
Mackenzie Casson
My name is Mackenzie Casson and I am a recent graduate from Utica College. I graduated May, 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Child Life with a Child Studies concentration. I have experience in daycares, schools, and non-profit organizations. I recently completed a semester long internship at Tradewinds Education Center in Utica, NY where I worked with students ages 8-21 with developmental disabilities. As an intern, I helped teach students and help them with their studies. I love to work with students at any age level and enjoy helping them learn and succeed. Calla Lewis
My name is Calla Lewis. I'm currently in my second year of college at Stony Brook University, pursuing my a bachelor's of science in psychology. I'm super excited to become a part of this team for the upcoming school year. As my school has shifted to virtual learning, I understand the added stress and workload put on the students. I hope that I can help ease this transition and offer support to those who need it! |
Megan Flanagan Sheehan
Megan has played an active role in the Syracuse theatrical community for the last 20 years. She has been a co-director with the Corcoran High School Drama Department, the Scene One Summer program with Appleseed productions, as well as the Director of the Cortland Repertoire Theatre Stars of Tomorrow youth theatre camp. Megan has an active and imaginative 5 year old daughter who keeps her on her toes at all times. Karen Doud
Mrs. Doud is a retired reading teacher with 35 years of teaching experience. In her career, she has taught all grade levels in reading. While teaching reading, she has implemented numerous reading programs. Mrs. Doud loves working with students so that they can be the best person they can be. She encourages students to always strive to do their best. In her free time, Mrs. Doud loves to read, take trips, garden and spend time with her family. |
COVID-19 Precautions
The following guidelines have been established in order for us to assist our staff in providing a safe environment for our remote learning and sports program. Our guidlines will be consistently reviewed and revised in accordance with Onondaga County and New York State.
For any child attending our program at the CNY Family Sports Centre, parents must answer the following questions with their child before attending on any given day.
PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY
- 1. Is your child having troubling breathing or feel shortness of breath?
- 2. Does your child have a Fever, Chills, or Muscle pain?
- 3. Do they have a sore throat or new loss of taste or smell?
- 4. In the last two weeks, has your child been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19?
- 5. Parents are responsible for their own child’s face covering. Staff will have additional masks if the students lose, break or soil theirs.
IF THE ANSWER IS YES TO ANY OF THE QUESTIONS, YOUR CHILD SHOULD STAY HOME
STAFF’S RESPONSIBILITY
- 1. All children and staff will be required to wear a face covering at all times in the building, unless seated at their personal area. All personal areas will be more than six feet apart.
- 2. When you arrive at the Remote Learning & Sports Program, you will be greeted by a staff member who will take your childs temperature daily and sign them in. A staff member will then guide your child to their personal area.
- 3. Any time a child leaves their personal area they must be wearing their face covering, and will be accompanied by a staff member. This includes going to/from their personal space, the physical fitness area, the music and art area, and using the restroom.
- 4. Staff will be taking temperatures a second time sometime during their lunch period to ensure participants don’t become ill during the course of the day.
- 5. Hand sanitizier will be available for the participants use in multiple locations throughout the building.
CLEANING PROCEDURES/SANTIZATION
- 1. Professional cleaning staff will be cleaning the building thoroughly overnight to prepare for the following days activities.
- 2. All participants personal spaces will be disinfected and sanitized, including chairs and desks.
- 3. Throughout the day there will be additional cleaning and sanitizing of handrails, door handles, high-touch surfaces, etc.
